My name is Mia Gordon, and Basically Soap was born from a mother’s determination to help her daughter—and from my own lifetime of struggling to find answers for my skin.

Growing up, I battled eczema, acne breakouts, overly oily skin, and dry patches that seemed impossible to balance. From childhood through my teenage years, I tried everything—dermatologist visits, countless over-the-counter acne treatments, products that promised miracles but left me disappointed. Nothing worked. It took years of frustration before I finally began to understand what my skin truly needed.

I thought those struggles were behind me. But when my daughter started showing those same signs—the same eczema patches, the same breakouts, the same discomfort I remembered so well—my heart broke. I couldn’t let her go through what I did. I couldn’t watch her suffer through years of trial and error, feeling uncomfortable in her own skin. That’s when I found my purpose.

I started experimenting in my kitchen, diving deep into research about natural ingredients and their healing properties. I began blending oils and botanicals—castor oil, shea butter, sunflower oil, almond oil, colloidal oatmeal, bentonite clay—creating handcrafted soaps that could truly transform skin without harsh chemicals. When I saw the difference it made for my daughter, I knew I had found something special.

That’s how Basically Soap was born—from love, determination, and the belief that no one should have to suffer. Just because you’re a teenager doesn’t mean you have to accept acne or breakouts as inevitable. With a background in business and an unwavering commitment to quality, I turned this personal mission into a brand that could help others find the same relief.

Basically Soap has grown beyond what I ever imagined, blossoming into a community built on trust, transparency, and a shared love for natural skincare that actually works.
